We’ve looked at Daniel’s interpretation of A HUGE STATUE and the GOLD HEAD in King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and found that it symbolized HIM — the KING of the BABYLONIAN EMPIRE….
“You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; in your hands He has placed all mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, He has made you ruler over them all. YOU ARE THAT HEAD OF GOLD.” (Daniel 2:37-38)
Daniel didn’t say much about the second kingdom, represented by the SILVER CHEST AND ARMS. But God gave this clue …
“… after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours;” (Daniel 2:39)
God showed through symbolism that Babylon would be overthrown by armies that were inferior in might and majesty. History reveals that the MEDES and the PERSIANS combined their armies to conquer the once superior Babylonians — symbolized by the TWO ARMS attached to the statue’s CHEST.
Next in line — inferior in value to the metals above it — Daniel saw that the statue’s BELLY AND THIGHS were molded from BRONZE….
“Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth.” (Daniel 2:39)
Bronze is of less value monetarily, but it’s stronger as a building material than gold or silver. ALEXANDER, ruler over the kingdom of GREECE, challenged the Medes and Persians and defeated them. But the Greek Empire was later DIVIDED — represented by THE TWO THIGHS.
You can find A LOT of information online concerning these prophecies and their fulfillment. Please notice that there are many OPINIONS and INTERPRETATIONS about every facet, drawn from different TRANSLATIONS. I urge you to DIG DEEPER if you feel led.
The next kingdom represented on the statue will need greater explanation, so we will DIG DEEPER into that.
